How do I link my Business ATO profile to a new accountant or bookkeeper?

In a move to reduce identify fraud, the ATO has rolled out a new method to connect your business ATO tax profile with your accountant or bookkeeper.

These changes have been progressively applied and now in force for all businesses as of 13 November 2023 with the exception of sole traders which are excluded for now.

Tax agents and BAS agents can longer add your business as a new client without you nominating them to act on your behalf.

If you are already linked to a tax agent or BAS agent, no action is required. These changes are for new connections to tax agents and BAS agents only.
